hello robthewordsmith

i just listened to that now, and i don;t know why i liked it so much, but at the time, after hearing many, many versions of the song over the course of a couple hours i dialed it in on my IPOD while i was frying some lettuces, no really -- i was making dinner, and for some reason i liked it just fine. i added it on to the end of my notes and into the post.....

but no, it doesn;t sound that great now. some of the versions i linked i really dig however -- and previous to 7/27/08 i was NEVER really very INTO shakedown much at all -- in fact i thought it was the less funky Feel Like a Stranger and was one of the Dead's most OVER-Rated, disappointing numbers, well... one that never seemed as good as it SHOULD have been....

and that is how i approached that song, on that day. i was thinking about it and then started listening to some versions and trying to see what was up and made a few notes.

just having fun, i wasn't looking for a pat on the back -- more for some feedback from other heads who knew some great versions.... and now i really am happy i got turned onto that Buffalo show from '81 -- that's what i got out of it.....

too bad you did not put your comments in the original post to which you are referring but never weighed in on, along with YOUR recommendations of a good show or version.... that is the idea....
